What We Believe

At Faith Building Church, we believe that the gospel should be simple enough for a child to grasp and powerful enough to change any life at any time it is received.  When we know and understand who we have been made to be in Christ Jesus, it is easy to go through this life as we were created to live and enjoy it.  This wonderful plan for mankind is laid out beautifully in God's Word and, together, it is our sincere desire to “...stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel” as is instructed in Philippians 1:27.

Along those lines, we believe the following:

The Trinity

We Believe there is one God who exists eternally in three distinct Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  He is loving, holy and just.

1 John 5:7; Genesis 1:26; Matthew 3:16-17; 28:19; Luke 1:35; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:14; 14:20-26; 15:26

God's Word

We Believe the Bible is God’s Word.  It is inspired, our instruction to perfectly guide us in all matters of life, and the final authority on which we base our faith, conduct, and doctrine.

2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Proverbs 30:5; Romans 16:25-26; 1 Thessalonians 2:13

Redemption

We Believe man was created in the very image and likeness of God.  Because of sin, however, we were separated from Him and only through Jesus Christ can we be reconciled back to our Heavenly Father.

Genesis 1:26-31; 3:1-7; Romans 3:22-26; 5:12-21; 6:23; Ephesians 2:1-9

Jesus Christ

We Believe Jesus Christ is both God and Man.  He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.  He led a sinless life, took all of our sins upon Himself, shed His blood for those sins, and then died and rose again as our righteous conquering King.  Today, He is seated at the right hand of the Father as our High Priest and Mediator.

John 1:1; 1:14, 14:6; 20:28; 1 Timothy 2:5; 3:16; Isaiah 9:6; Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 1:1-12; 2:9-15; 7:20-27

Salvation

We Believe salvation is the gift of God to man.  This gift is made possible by His grace and received through our faith in Jesus Christ and it produces works pleasing to God.

Ephesians 2:8-10; Galatians 2:16; 3:8-14; Titus 3:5-7; Romans 10:9-10; Acts 2:21; 16:31; Hebrews 9:22

Water Baptism

We Believe water baptism is an outward expression that demonstrates a believer's identification with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus and is a testimony of that believer's faith in Jesus as their Lord.

Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38; 8:36-39; 10:34-48; Romans 6:4; Colossians 2:12

Holy Spirit

We Believe Holy Spirit is our Comforter.  He equips us, strengthens us, and guides us into truth in all areas of our lives.  We believe He blesses us with spiritual gifts to minister to, edify, and benefit the Body of Christ.  These gifts are always to operate decently and in Biblical order.  We also believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit and that He empowers us to live a life that yields His fruit.

John 14:16-20; 14:26; Romans 8:11; Joel 2:28-29; Matthew 3:11; Mark 16:17; Acts 1:5; 1:8; 2:1-4; 2:17; 8:14-17; 10:38; 10:44-47; 11:15-17; 19:1-6; Hebrews 2:4; Romans 1:11; 12:4-8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31; 14:1-40

Holy Communion

We Believe the Holy Communion is a celebration of Jesus’ death and our remembrance of what He did for us on the cross.  Through the partaking of these elements, we remember what He became for us so that we can become all we can be in Him.

Matthew 26:26-29; Luke 22:17-20; 1 Corinthians 10:16; 11:23-25

Provision

We Believe God wants to transform us by His new birth and put us back into the position Adam was in before sin entered.  He wants to save us, heal us, make us whole in every way, and prosper us so that we can live a blessed and victorious life that will impact and help others.  We believe it is God's will for every believer to prosper:

  • SPIRITUALLY

John 3:3-11; 3:16; 10:10; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21; Romans 10:9-10; Ephesians 2:8-10; Acts 2:21; 16:31

  • MENTALLY and EMOTIONALLY

Isaiah 26:3; 53:4-5; John 10:10; 14:27; 16:33; 2 Timothy 1:7; Philippians 4:7-8; Romans 12:2; 1 Thessalonians 5:23

  • PHYSICALLY

Isaiah 53:4-5; Matthew 8:17; 1 Peter 2:24, 3 John 2; Acts 3:6-8; 5:16; 8:7; 14:8-10; 28:8-9; James 5:16

  • FINANCIALLY

Joshua 1:8; 2 Corinthians 9:6-15; Deuteronomy 28:1-14; Psalms 34:10; 84:11; Proverbs 10:22; Philippians 4:19

Growth In Christ

We Believe every believer should be conformed to the image of Christ and live out their lives in a growing relationship with Jesus.  We do this by renewing our mind to God's Word and yielding to the direction of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 12:1-2; 1 Peter 2:1-3; Hebrews 5:12-14; Galatians 5:16

Fishers of Men

We Believe we are all called to be witnesses of the Lord Jesus, have our lives be a living testimony of His goodness, and to preach the gospel to all nations.

Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-20; Luke 24:44-48; Acts 1:8; 1 Peter 3:15

Our Future

We Believe our Lord Jesus Christ is coming back again to permanently establish His Kingdom and will receive us to our eternal Heavenly home just as He promised.

Matthew 24:30; 26:63-64; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18; 2 Corinthians 5:1; Hebrews 11:16; 1 Peter 1:4

Mandate of the Ecclesia

Sunday, Nov 17, 2024

So many believers don't even realize the true purpose of the church as the body of Christ. The "church," God's ecclesia, is supposed to be built on the revelation that Jesus is THE Christ. Culture isn't bad, and it's ok for a local body of believers to have their own unique culture. However, so much of the American church is driven by and rooted in culture, that it's lost focus on the original revelation! Pastor Anthony teaches on the significance of discipleship, and how each member contributes uniquely to the growth and mission of the "church". Not for the numbers in a building, but for God's Kingdom. Be encouraged to reflect Christ in your daily life, drawing others to His Kingdom through your actions and faith!
